Lois “Katie” Gillum, age 77, a resident of  Portland, IN, died early Thursday morning at the Jay County Hospital following a brief illness.

She was a former employee of the Jay Garment Co. of Portland.  She had worked there from 1948 to 1972. She then worked at CTS of Berne from 1972 until 1992, and retired from Wal-Mart where she worked from 1995 until 2002.  
       Lois Gillum was born in Allen Co., IN on December 12, 1930 the daughter of Roy and Martha (Brumbaugh) Craig.  She graduated from Bryant High School with the Class of 1948.  She was married on January 27, 1951 to Reginald L. Gillum.  He died Dec. 26, 1997.  Lois Gillum is survived by:
   
 5 daughters:  Pam E. Best- Portland, IN
                           Brenda J. Gillum- Bryant, IN
                           Jackie L. Michael (husband Jack)- Anderson, IN
                           Kay E. Gillum- Portland, IN
                           Cheryl L. Loper (husband Bill)- Portland, IN
8 grandchildren, including Phillip Gillum of Portland, who was raised in the Gillum home.
10 great-grandchildren
 2 sisters:  Nancy Warren- Tennessee
                 Arlene Franklin- New Castle, IN
 4 brothers:  Dean Craig- Bryant, IN
                    Eldon Craig- Centerville, VA
                    Steven Craig- Rural Portland, IN
                    Dale Craig- Virginia
 1 brother and 1 sister are deceased

     Funeral services for Lois “Katie” Gillum will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Portland Chapel of the Williamson & Spencer Funeral.  Pastor roger Domingo will officiate and burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery in Portland, IN.
     Friends may call at the Portland Chapel of the Williamson & Spencer Funeral Home on Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. and prior to service time on Saturday.  Online condolences may be left at www.williamsonspencer.com

I just found out about the death of yuor mom. I am so sorry. She was a spunky lady. I really enjoyed working with her at Wal-Mart. My thoughts are with your family.
