Funeral Services for James "Jim" Hinshaw PDF Print E-mail
James “Jim” F. Hinshaw, age 62, a resident of Pike Township, Jay County, passed away Wednesday at his residence following an extended illness.  Jim Hinshaw was born on April 18, 1947, the son of Kenneth L. and Mary Anna (Zigler) Hinshaw.  He attended Gray School in Jay County.  Jim married Sherry (Frame) on July 5, 1975.  

    Jim farmed in Bearcreek Township for several years.  He was also a semi truck driver for several years and worked for the Jay County Highway Department for 20 years, retiring in 2006.  He was a member of the Circle X Riding Club in Winchester, the Jay County Trail Riders Association and the Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor Association.    

    Survivors include:

    His wife of 33 years:  Sherry Hinshaw – rural Portland, Indiana

    4 sons:  Kenneth “Fred” Hinshaw (wife Lisa) – rural Portland, Indiana
                         David Hinshaw – Kansas City, Missouri
                 James “Bud” Young (wife Denise) – Corinth, Kentucky
                         William “Bill” Young (wife Pam) – Clearfield, Kentucky

    1 daughter:  Kylea Lee – Portland, Indiana

    2 sisters:  Carolyn Sue Friend (husband John) – Portland, Indiana
            Ruth Helen Bruss (husband Allen) – Portland, Indiana
    13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren

    Funeral services for James Hinshaw will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Portland Chapel of the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home.  Pastor Jeff Horsman and Pastor Russell Fraley will officiate the service and burial will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery, west of Bryant.  

    Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-8 p.m. in the Portland Chapel of the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home.  

    Memorials may be directed towards the Jay County Cancer Society or State of the Heart Hospice.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
