Richard “Dick” D. Farber, 70, of Portland, Indiana passed away on Thursday night, September 17, 2009 at the JayCountyHospital
Richard was born on March 7, 1939 the son of Grover D. and Martha L. (Holmes) Farber.He graduated from PortlandHigh School in 1957, and worked at the Sheller Globe Corporation for 10 years then Red Gold for 30 years.Richard married Janet Poling on March 29, 1959 and they attended The Rock church in Portland.Richard was a Boy Scout Leader, a Little League Baseball Coach and a Pee Wee Football Coach for many years.He was also the director of the Boys Club in Portland for many years.Survivors include: His Wife: Janet Farber – Portland, IN, His Sons: Bradly S. Farber (wife Julie) – Nobelsville, IN, Mitchell D. Farber – Phoenix, AZ, Jeffrey W. Farber (wife Shannon) – Gaston, IN, His Daughter: Lisa A. McShane – Portland, IN, His Sister: Sandra Sawicki – Frankfort, IN, and His Five Grandchildren.Funeral Services for Richard D. Farber will be 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home, Portland Chapel.Pastor Jeff Horseman will be officiating the service.Burial will follow the service at GreenParkCemetery, Portland, Indiana.Visitation will be held on Monday, September 21, 2009 from 4-8 p.m. in the Portland Chapel of the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home.Memorial donations may be directed toward the JayCountyCommunity Center’s Memorial Fund, with envelopes available at the funeral home.Online condolences may be sent to www.williamsonspencer.com
