Funeral Services for Thelma Schaffer PDF Print E-mail

Schaffer, 95, of Portland, Indiana passed away on Saturday morning, November 14, 2009 at the Persimmon Ridge Nursing Home.          Thelma was born on September 23, 1914 in Sidney, Ohio the daughter of Harley and Eva M. (Cain) Locker.  She married Paul Schaffer on April 25, 1936; he preceded her in death on July 12, 1990.  She and her husband owned and operated Paul’s Radio and T.V. repair service in Portland.  She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and attended the Fellowship Baptist Church in Portland.  She was also a member of the Richards Wednesday Morning Breakfast Club for many years.               Survivors include:             Her Son:          William A. Schaffer (wife Janet) – Portland, Indiana             Her Daughter: Rosie Brewer – Muncie, Indiana                                           6 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren She was also preceded in death by one son-in-law W.Ray Brewer and a great granddaughter Tabitha.             Funeral services for Thelma Schaffer will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Portland Chapel of the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home.  Pastor Hugh Kelly will officiate and burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery in Portland, Indiana.               Visitation for Thelma Schaffer will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 from 12-2 p.m. in the Portland Chapel of the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home.   

            Memorials may be directed towards the Jay County Humane Society, with envelopes available at the funeral home.

May your hearts be filled with warm thoughts and treasured moments of both Paul and Thelma. We have very fond memories of your Mom and Dad and the late night card games.
