Harley Edmon Geesaman, age 88, a resident of Pennville, Indiana passed away on Friday morning, August 6, 2010 at Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
Harley was born on November 28, 1921 in Jay County, Indiana the son of Fred and Mae (Hudson) Geesaman. He joined the US ARMY and fought with the 97th Infantry in Europe during WWII. He first married Marjorie (Nuckols) on January 21, 1942 and she passed away in 1959. He then met Alta Holland and they married on October 21 1962. He worked as a carpenter building houses for 58 years all around the Jay County, Blackford County and Grant County. Harley help build the Indiana State Holiness Campground at the corner of State Road 26 and State Road 1 in rural Portland. He served on the Board of Directors of the Indiana State Holiness Campground for several years and was a member of the American Legion in Pennville for over 50 years. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Alta Geesaman, Pennville, Indiana; his daughters, Jone Haines (husband Glen), rural Pennville, Indiana, Diana Stults (husband Larry), rural Bryant, Indiana and Benita Keller (husband Bob), rural Portland, Indiana; his brothers, Ralph Geesaman, Pennville, Indiana, Gene (wife Bonnie) Geesaman, rural Portland, Indiana and Glen Geesaman, Pennville, Indiana, Kermit Geesaman, Pennville, Indiana. His Sister: Barbara (husband Don) Lae – Redkey, Indiana His Daughter-in-Law: Donna Geesaman – Aurora, Colorado 14 Grandchildren, 25 Great- Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great- Grandchildren. Harley was preceded in death by one son, David Geesaman, his 1st wife Marjorie (Nuckols) Geesaman and two brothers, Harold and Kenneth Geesaman. Visitation for Harley will be from 4-7 pm on Monday, August 9, 2010 in the Portland Chapel of the Williamson & Spencer Funeral Homes. Funeral Services for Harley Geesaman will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Portland Chapel of the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home. Pastor Jonathon Fightmaster will officiate and burial will follow at the I.O.O.F. Twin Hill Cemetery, Pennville, Indiana. 1. 09-08-2010 13:48 Though my heart knows that Uncle Harley is in good hands...I am deeply saddened at the the loss of such a wonderful man. He always will be thought of as a devoted husband, kind and loving father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. My prayers are with Aunt Alta, Bonita, Jone and Diana.
