Funeral Services for Paul M. May

Paul M. May, age 93, a life long resident of Salamonia, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at Jay County Hospital in Portland with his loving family by his side. Paul was born on December 25, 1915, in Salamonia, Indiana, the son of Murl and Opal (Smith) May. He graduated from Madison Township School in 1935. Paul married Gene Roush on March 27, 1938, and she preceded him in death on October 3, 1987. He was a life long farmer of Madison Township, Jay County and a volunteer fire fighter for the Salamonia Fire Department for many years. He was a member of the Salamonia United Church of Christ where he served on the church board for many years. He was also a member of the Jay County Historical Society and served on the Jay County Council for 20 years. Survivors include: 1 son: Ed May (wife Vickie) – rural Portland, Indiana 1 brother: Ralph May (wife Mildred) – rural Portland, Indiana 1 sister: Ruby Geeting – Anderson, Indiana 2 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren Funeral services for Paul May will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the Salamonia United Church of Christ in Salamonia, Indiana with Bruce Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the Salamonia Cemetery in Salamonia, Indiana. Visitation for Paul May will be held on Friday, October 9, 2009, from 3-8 p.m. in the Portland Chapel of the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home. There will also be visitation from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be directed towards the Salamonia United Church of Christ Building Fund or the State of the Heart Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and at the church.
