Hamor Williamson, age 81, a resident of rural Portland, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at his home.
Hamor was born on October 28, 1927, in Portland, Indiana, the son of Darwin and Alta (Orr) Williamson. He was a graduate of Portland High School. Hamor married June Marie Platt on November 12, 1950. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1950-1952 serving in Germany. Hamor owned and operated Hamor Williamson Construction for over 50 years. He attended the West Walnut Street Church of Christ in Portland. Survivors include: His wife of 58 years: June Marie Williamson – Portland, Indiana, 2 daughters: Cynthia Pries (husband Fred) – Winchester, Indiana, Christine Lozier – Warsaw, Indiana, 3 sons: Sidney Williamson (wife Mary) – Las Cruces, New Mexico, Jed Williamson (wife Dorothy) – Dunkirk, Indiana, Rodney Williamson (wife Tammy) – Greenwood, Indiana, 3 brothers: Verl D. Williamson – Portland, Indiana, Leoris J. Williamson (wife Betty) – Portland, Indiana, Darrel N. Williamson (wife Faye) – Portland, Indiana, 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Funeral services for Hamor Williamson will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. in the Portland Chapel of the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home. Pastor Jim Nichols and Pastor Darrell Borders will officiate and burial will follow in the Salamonia Cemetery in Salamonia, Indiana. The American Legion Post #211 of Portland will conduct military graveside rites. Visitation for Hamor Williamson will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2009, from 3-7 p.m. in the Portland Chapel of the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home.
