Darrell Lee Smith, age 83 a resident of Redkey, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at his home. He was a 1952 graduate of Gov. I.P. Gray High School. Darrell worked 35 years at Westinghouse in Union City. He was a Jail officer at the Jay County Jail and worked security at Indiana Glass in Dunkirk. Darrell then served 8 years on the Redkey Town Council and was a former trustee of Redkey Church of the Nazarene. Darrell and his father owned Smith Gun Shop in Power Station for many years. He was a member of the NRA and competed in many shooting competitions. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Darrell Lee Smith was born May 28, 1934 in Jay County, Indiana the son of Cassius and Pauline (Ullom) Smith. He was married to Loretta Mink on July 28, 1990.

1 Brother: Jay Smith (wife Amy) – Rising Sun, Indiana
3 Grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, and several great grandchildren
Visitation will be held from 2-7 p.m. on Sunday in Redkey Church of the Nazarene in Redkey.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Redkey Church of the Nazarene in Redkey. Pastor Rob Farris will officiate and burial will follow in the I.O.O.F Twin Hills Cemetery in Pennville. Ridgeville American Legion will be in charge of military graveside rites.
