David Chadwick, age 66 a resident of Portland passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at his home following a battle with cancer. He was a loving and supportive husband to his wife, Charlotte and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman. He was a member of the Union Chapel Church west of Bryant. He was a Corporal in the US Army serving during Vietnam. He was a member of the Portland American Legion Post 211. David worked for the City of Portland for 19 years at the Street Department where he was promoted to Street Superintendent. He also worked for the Water Department as a troubleshooter. He had worked at Farm Bureau Co-Op and Hartzell Fan both in Portland.
David Chadwick was born December 30, 1950 in Big Stone Gap, Virginia the son of Fred and Emma (Blevins) Chadwick. He was married December 1, 1979 to Charlotte (Abel) Schwieterman.

Jim Chadwick (wife-Betty), Amarillo, Texas
4 Sisters- Freda Daniels (husband-Bob), Pennville, Indiana
Hazel Taylor (husband-David), Pennville, Indiana
Elizabeth Brown (husband-Larry), Portland, Indiana
Wanda Schafer (husband-Bob), Decatur, Indiana
7 Grandchildren- Mitchell, Lauren and Camille Lykins, Treva and Travis Clingenpeel, Gavin and Reese Bowen. Several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter- Leanne Bowen, a sister- Thelma Huey and his parents.
Visitation will be held from 4-8pm on Friday in the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday at the Union Chapel Church, west of Bryant with visitation 1 hour prior to the services. Pastor Mike Morgan and Pastor Don Chadwick will officiate the services and burial will follow in the Salamonia Cemetery. Portland American Legion Post 211 will be in charge of military rites at the cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the family in care of the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
