Hope Giger, age 90, a former resident of Portland and Dunkirk, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Georgetown Place in Fort Wayne.
Hope was born on December 27, 1926, in Hartford City, Indiana, the daughter of Clyde and Esther (Woolard) Lake. She graduated from Hartford City High School in 1945. She married Carl Giger on November 28, 1946 and he passed away on January 31, 1995.
Hope worked for G.E. in Marion, 3M in Hartford City and retired from the Jay School Corporation.
Survivors include:
2 sons: Rex Giger – Summitville, Indiana
Douglas Giger (wife Linda) – Port Charlotte, Florida
1 daughter: Ronda Blankenbeker (husband Denny) – New Haven, Indiana
7 grandchildren and several great grandchildren
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie.
Memorials may be directed towards the Spinal Muscular Atrophy Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
