Janice Lee Hudson

Janice Lee Hudson, age 76, a resident of rural Portland, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016 at her home in rural Portland. 

               Janice was born on June 9, 1939, in Jay County, Indiana, the daughter of Dorwin Keith and Genevieve (Whitacre) Myers.  She graduated from Portland High School in 1957 and retired from Wal-Mart Pharmacy in Portland in 2006 as a pharmacy tech. 

               Memberships include D.A.R and the Jackson Nukummers Home Ec. Club.  She attended the Redkey Church of the Nazarene.  Janice married Donald G. Hudson on June 16, 1957, and he preceded her to heaven on July 29, 2011. 

               Survivors include:

               2 sons:  Doug Hudson (wife Karen L.) – rural Portland, Indiana

                             Donald Gene Hudson II (wife Karen M.) – Greensburg, Indiana

               1 daughter:  Gerrilee Garcia – Waco, Texas         

              1 step-sister:  Norma Landers (husband Harold) – Marion, Indiana

               1 step-brother:  John A. Rarick (wife Sarah) – Portland, Indiana

               7 grandchildren:  Troy Hudson (wife Amy), Daren Hudson (wife Janelle), Deric Hudson, Devon Hudson (wife Kara), James Garcia and John Garcia.

               1 great-grandson:  Julian Hudson

               She was preceded in death by her mother, Genevieve Rarick, her father, Dorwin Keith Myers, her step-father, John Rarick, her husband Donald Hudson and a granddaughter, Kari Hudson. 

               Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.  Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday.   

               Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.  Pastor Rob Farris will officiate and burial will follow in the Center Cemetery, west of Portland. 

               Memorials may be directed towards Jay Randolph Developmental Services or Redkey Church of the Nazarene.
