Maryellen (Mitchell) Wright, age 87, a resident of rural Portland passed away on Sunday January 28, 2018 at Swiss Village in Berne, Indiana.
Maryellen was born February 12, 1930 in Delaware County Indiana, the daughter of Emerson and Belle (Gilmer) Mitchell. Maryellen graduated Valedictorian from Gray High School in 1948. Maryellen worked as a teacher’s aide at Noble School and was a business partner with her husband at R.J. Wright and Sons Lime and Fertilizer for over 44 years. She was a Jay County Public Library trustee for 2 terms and played piano for over 60 years at Noble Congregational Christian Church and Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
Maryellen married her husband Royce J. Wright on May 13, 1950.

Megan Foster (husband Doug) – Reed City, Michigan
Zach Wright (wife Candy) Celina, Ohio

Visitation will be Friday 4-7 p.m. at Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Aaron Huey and Pastor Darrel Borders will officiate the service and burial will follow in I.O.O.F Twin Hill Cemetery in Pennville.
Memorials can be directed to Noble Congregational Christian Church or Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
