Norma Jean Price

 Norma Jean Price, age 89, a resident of Portland, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Persimmon Ridge in Portland. 

      Jean was born on December 29, 1926, in Madison Township, Jay County, the daughter of Burl Leon and Garnet (Schenk) Hathaway.  She graduated from Madison Township High School in 1945.  Jean worked for Jay Garment in Portland for 10 years and CTS in Berne for 13 years provided child care in the area for several years.  She attended the Salamonia United Church of Christ and was a member of the Ladies of the Moose Lodge in Portland.  She married Robert C. Price on December 2, 1951 and he passed away on August 28, 1972. 

Survivors include:

3 sons:  Richard Price (wife Marcy) – Wren, Ohio

             Gary Price – Atlanta, Georgia

             Bill Price (wife Lisa) – Portland, Indiana

2 daughters:  Peggy Harmon (husband Dennis) – Portland, Indiana

                      Joyce Koenig (husband Chris) – Portland, Indiana

Brother-in-law:  John Price (wife Lucy) – Berne, Indiana

                            Earl Price (wife Bert) – Bradenton, Florida

1 sister:  Lynn Ragsdale - Winchester, Indiana

14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren

     Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1- 5 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. 

      Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.  Pastor Bruce Phillips will officiate and burial will follow in the Salamonia Cemetery. 

      Memorials may be directed towards The Hospice Group.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
