Perry Eugene Bailey

     Perry Eugene Bailey, age 97, a resident of rural Portland in Greene Township, Jay County, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2016 at Jay County Hospital in Portland. 

     Perry was born on June 13, 1919, in Jay County, Indiana the son of Elijah and Stella (Staley) Bailey.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II and was a lifelong farmer in Greene Township, Jay County.  Perry received the FFA Hall of Fame Award in 2001 and was a member of the Portland American Legion Post #211, Farmers Mutal Insurance Board of Directors and the Greene Township Advisory Board.  He married Rosemary Coon on February 19, 1946 and she passed away on January 2, 1991. 

Survivors include:

1 son:  Bob Bailey (wife Faye) – rural Portland, Indiana

2 daughters:  Betty Krieg (husband Ron) – Portland, Indiana

                      Peggy Buroker (husband Norm) – Greentown, Indiana

9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren

     Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 12 p.m.  – 2 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.  Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in the IOOF Twin Hill Cemetery in Pennville.
