Richard Young

     Richard Young, age 70, a resident of Portland, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Parkview North Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

     Richard was a graduate of Bryant High School and served in the U.S. Army in the Corp of Engineers in Vietnam. Richard worked at Zurcher Tire for over 30 years and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Portland.

     Richard Young was born August 23, 1946 in Jay County the son of Richard K. Young and Virginia (Dority) Frakes.  He was married on March 7, 1968 to Sandy Calhoun.

His wife- Sandy Young, Portland, Indiana

2 Sons- Chad Young (wife- Shanna), Portland, Indiana

             Troy Young (wife- Carrie), Geneva, Indiana

1 Brother- Jeff Young (wife- Toni), Rosenburg, Texas

1 Sister- Sherry Huffman (husband- Tom), Bluffton, Indiana

10 Grandchildren

     He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father Virginia and Jack Frakes, his father Richard K. Young and his brother Larry Frakes.

     Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday May 30, 2017 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Portland.

     Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Portland. Pastor Hugh Kelly will officiate and burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery in Portland. The Portland American Legion post 211 will conduct military graveside rites.

      Memorials may be directed to the Jay County Cancer Society.
