Virginia Naomi Lay

Virginia Naomi (Nall) Lay, age 102, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Grace Village in Winona Lake, Indiana. 

            Virginia was born on May 27, 1913, in Redkey, Indiana, the daughter of Reverend Jesse and Alda (Johnson) Nall.  She married Sam Lay on June 14, 1936 and he went home to be with the Lord on March 10, 2001. 

            She was a long time member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Portland.  She graduated from Portland High School in 1931.  She and Sam moved to Frankfort, Indiana to Wesley Manor.  Then she moved to Winona Lake after Sam went home. 

Her parents and her sister Ruth, brother Kephart were waiting for her in Heaven.  She has now joined them as well with other family members, a son Sidney, 2 grandsons Scott Lay and Mark Decker and 5 great grandchildren. 

            Virignia is survived by her sister Martha Mendenhall of Kokomo, Indiana who is 100 years old, and three daughters Phyllis Brewer of Arvada, Colorado, Dianne Plummer (husband Ray) of Warsaw, Indiana and Linda Decker of Advance, North Carolina.  Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. 

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland, Indiana.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 12 – 1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed towards the Asbury United Methodist Church in Portland, Indiana or Wesley Manor in Frankfort, Indiana.
