Wanda Imel

            Wanda Imel, age 86, a resident of rural Portland, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017 at her home in Portland. 

            Wanda was born on September 3, 1930, in Delaware County, Indiana, the daughter of Ervin and Delpha (Metz) Stafford.  She was a 1948 graduate of Portland High School.  Wanda was a member of the First Baptist Church in Portland.  She and her husband owned and operated Imel’s Lawn and Garden for many years.  She also worked at CTS in Berne and East Elementary as a custodial aid for 35 years.  She married Wayne Imel on March 6, 1949 and he passed away in 2003. 

            Survivors include:

            1 son:  Rick Imel (wife Debra) – Portland, Indiana

            1 daughter:  Diane Davis – Portland, Indiana

            3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren

            Visitation will be held on Thursday from 3- 7 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. 

            Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.  Pastor Joe Hines will officiate and burial will follow in the Salamonia Cemetery. 

            Memorials may be directed towards Family Life Care in Berne.
