William T. Powers, age 80 a resident of Evans, Georgia passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Georgia War Veteran Nursing Home in Augusta, Georgia. He was a member of the St. John Methodist Church in Blackshear, Ga. He was a 1st Sergeant in the US Army serving 23 years during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He then worked for the US Postal Service in Miami, Florida area for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 192 in Evans, Georgia and served as State Commander of the Georgia American Legion. He was a member of the National Security of the American Legion, the 40 & 8 of the Legion and the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada, United States (ANAVICUS). He was a member of the Lakeview Golf Course in Blackshear, Georgia.
William Powers was born November 21, 1936 in Waycross, Georgia the son of Joseph and Nora (Youman) Powers. He was married to Carolyn Sue McCaffery in 1971.

1 Daughter- Cheryl Newbauer (husband-Rick), Wichita, Kansas
15 Grandchildren and 21 Great Grandchildren
Visitation will be held from 11-1pm on Monday, August 14, 2017 at the Pennville Chapel of the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow in the Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana with Rev. John Lex officiating.
