Clyde Gilbert, age 90, a resident of rural Portland, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at his home.
Clyde was born on March 22, 1928, in Olive Hill, Kentucky, the son of Elijah and Vicie Ann (Fields) Gilbert. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict and was a life member of the VFW Post #6515 in Fort Recovery. He retired in 1990 from New Idea in Coldwater after 37 years of service. Clyde attended Bellfountain United Methodist Church. He married Barbara Coulson on April 14, 1956.

Max Gilbert (wife Ruth) – Ft. Recovery, Ohio
Clyde Eric Gilbert – Portland, Indiana
Todd Gilbert (wife Cindy) – Tilton, New Hampshire
3 daughters: Tracy Teeter – Portland, Indiana
Holly Sullivan (husband Joe) – Portland, Indiana
Penny Martin (husband Tom) – Portland, Indiana
20 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patti Jo Gilbert and a son-in-law, Noah Teeter.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. The American Legion Post #211 will conduct military rites.
Memorials may be directed towards the Bellefountain United Methodist Church.
