James Ridgway Obituary

    James L. Ridgway, age 69, a resident of Portland passed away Thursday July 12, 2018 at his home in Portland.

    James was born August 17, 1948 in Portland, the son of William and Mary Jane (Bullens) Ridgway.  James was a veteran in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.  He also served in the National Guard.  James retired from the Commercial Review in 2010 as a press operator. James was a past commander of the Ft. Recovery VFW and was a life member of the Portland American Legion Post 211 where he served in the color guard for many years.

     James married Ann Jennings on February 8, 1992.

Survivors Include:

His beloved wife: Ann Ridgway – Portland, Indiana

1 son: Ron Ridgway – Mississippi

1 step-son: Ted Jennings – Portland, Indiana

1 step-daughter: Melissa Orme – Decatur, Indiana

2 sisters Debra McGraw (husband Michael) – Portland, Indiana

              Sandra Wentz (husband Samuel) – Portland, Indiana

3 grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren

James was preceded in death by a sister Carol Stone and a step-son David Jennings.

     Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday August 7, 2018 at Hickory Grove Church of the Brethren, 985 N. SR 1 Dunkirk, Indiana.  Portland American Legion Post #211 will be in charge of military rites at the church.

 Burial will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
