Jesse Clevenger

     Jesse Clevenger, age 80, a resident of Matthews, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.  He was a former resident of Madison Township in Jay County.

   Jesse was born on February 24, 1937, in Delaware County, the son of Everett and Cordelia (Shoemaker) Clevenger.  He graduated from Saratoga High School in 1956 and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.  He married Carolyn Milthaler on November 13, 1960 and she passed away on May 16, 2016.  Jesse was a truck driver for over 33 years for several different companies including Red Gold.  He was a member of the Full Gospel Temple in Muncie. 

     Survivors include:

     1 son:  David Glen Clevenger (wife Lisa) – Pennville, Indiana

     1 brother:  Keith Clevenger (wife Patty) – Ridgeville, Indiana

     2 sisters:  Judith LeMaster (husband Leland) – Portland, Indiana

                     Julia Berry – Geneva, Indiana

     6 grandchildren and several great grandchildren

     He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Clevenger and a son, Doug Clevenger.

     Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.  Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Herb Hummel officiating.  The Portland American Legion Post #211 will conduct military rites at the funeral home.

     Memorials may be directed towards the Full Gospel Fellowship of Churches and Ministers International.
