Leoris Williamson Obituary

Leoris J. Williamson, age 87, a resident of Portland, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Persimmon Ridge in Portland.

Leoris was born November 8, 1930 in Portland the son of Darwin J. and Alta (Orr) Williamson. He graduated from Portland High School in 1950 and from Indiana College of Mortuary Science in 1953. Leoris was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving from 1950 to 1952. Leoris worked at Pasco Funeral Home in Greenfield for 6 years and was a Building Contractor in Portland for nearly 50 years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee for many years. Other memberships included Portland Breakfast Optimist Club where he had perfect attendance for over 30 years and served on the board of directors. He also served on the Executive Board of Boy Scouts #206 and was a Cub Scout Master for 5 years.

 Leoris married Betty Jean White on June 28, 1953 and she survives.  They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this week.

            Brian Keith Williamson (wife Deb Price) – Portland, Indiana

            Tracy Wayne Williamson (wife Terri) – Lucerne, Indiana

1 brother: Darrel N. Williamson (wife Faye) – Portland, Indiana

1 sister-in-law: June Marie Williamson – Portland, Indiana 

3 grandchildren: Claire Walsh (husband Adam) – Cincinnati, Ohio

                           Christina Getz (husband Brian) – Indianapolis, Indiana

                           Katy Williamson – Lucerne, Indiana

9 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren

cousins, several nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers Bill Williamson, Hamor Williamson, and Verl Williamson and 1 granddaughter Anna Williamson.

     Visitation will be Sunday July 1 from 1-6 p.m. at Williamson, Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland.

    Funeral will be Monday July 2 at 11 a.m. with an hour of visitation before the service at Williamson, Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Burial will be in Green Park Cemetery in Portland.

    Memorials may be directed to Trinity United Methodist Church or Museum of the Soldier. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
