Max Flauding

Max Flauding age 83 a resident of Gaston, Indiana and a former Bryant resident passed away Friday at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.  He was a graduate of Gov. I.P. Gray High School in Jay County and was a US Navy veteran serving in the Korean Conflict.  He retired in 1997 from GM in Muncie after 30 years.

     Max was a member of Geneva VFW, Ridgeville American Legion, UAW 499, and Avondale Sympathy Club.

     He was born March 10, 1935 in Bryant, Indiana and raised by Lawrence and Nina Flauding.  He was married July 3, 1956 to Janet Stump.

His wife- Janet Flauding, Gaston, Indiana

Children- Cathy Reffitt (husband- James), Gaston,  David Flauding (companion-Candi Clawson), Pennville,  Vicky Bennett (husband-Scott), Gaston,  Anita Wiemer (husband-Bruce), Albany,  John Flauding (companion- Jacqulynn Cook), Gaston, 

1 Brother- Paul Richard Crouse, Dunkirk,

7 Sisters- Zora Norris (husband- Mike), Portland,  Janet McCallister (husband-Wayne), Dunkirk,  Flora Paxson, Bluffton,  Karen Schuh (husband-Bernard), Ft. Recovery,  Barbara Ball, Ft. Wayne,  Beverly Murphy (husband-Gerald), Columbia City,  Sandy Lacey (husband-Mike), Kentucky.

11 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren,  5 Great Great Grandchildren

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Flauding, and a great grandson Mason Manship

     Visitation will be from 5pm-8pm on Tuesday in the Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. 

    Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastors Albert and James Reffitt officiating.  Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery, west of Bryant.
