Ray Walter age 84 a Pennville resident passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Bluffton Regional Medical Center. He was retired from 3M in Hartford City after 33 years. He was a member of the Pennville United Methodist Church, Pennville IOOF Lodge # 145 and Pennville Lions Club. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge #625 and the Civil Defense, both in Hartford City. He was a 1952 graduate of I.P. Gray School. After retirement he worked as a funeral assistant at Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland and Pennville. Ray enjoyed woodworking, riding on his golf cart and was always willing to help anyone in need.
Ray Walter was born September 27, 1933 in Jay County, Indiana the son of Arlet and Lena (Siders) Walter. He was married February 22, 1953 to Grace Monroe.

2 Sisters- Mary Mae Swearman, Springhill, Tennessee
Martha Brosher (husband-Ivan), Lindale, Texas
8 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren
Visitation will be held from 3-7pm on Wednesday in the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Thursday in the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Pastor Gary Phillips will officiate and burial will follow in the IOOF Twin Hills Cemetery in Pennville.
