Betty Ramirez

Betty J. Ramirez, age 82, a resident of Portland, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Albany Health and Rehab.

Betty was born on July 12, 1940, in Houston, Texas, the daughter of William Roy Morton and Mary (Saldiva) Morton-Gonzalez.  He worked for NAAS Foods in Portland and retired from EPC in Geneva.  She was a member of the American Legion Post #211 Auxiliary and Portland Moose Lodge.

Her children:  Jane Bailey (husband Eddie) – Portland, Indiana

Veronica Wilson – Pasadena, Texas

Jo Ann McCellon – Beaumont, Texas

Her brothers:  Walter Roy Morton – Brownsville, Texas

Joe Gene Gonzalez (wife Lucy) – Kansas City, Missouri

Victor Gonzalez – Portland, Indiana

Edward Gonzalez (wife Carolyn) – Florida

12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth McCellon, Jr., a brother William Robert Morton and a son-in-law, Carlos Wilson.

Private memorial services will be held at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Burial will follow at Green Park Cemetery in Portland.
