James Gettinger

James D. Gettinger, age 67, a resident of Edinburgh, Indiana, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis. He was a former Portland resident.
James was born on November 11, 1949 in Union City, Indiana the son of Ben and Margaret (Krischak) Gettinger. He graduated from Madison Township High School in 1967 and earned his Master’s Degree in Education from Ball State University. He was a Teacher and Principal at New Salem, Rushville, and Edinburgh Elementary. He was a member of the Grace Assembly of God Church in New Whiteland, Indiana. He enjoyed gardening, playing golf, sports, and being a grand dad.

2 sons: Ben Gettinger (wife Erin) – Indianapolis, Indiana
Brandon Morefield - Edinburgh, Indiana
1 daughter: Amy Greenwell (husband Chris) – Louisville, Kentucky
4 grandchildren: Jack and Emily Gettinger

Visitation will be held on Monday from 1-3 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.
Graveside services will follow at 3:30 p.m. on Monday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery on the Jay/Randolph County Line.
