Lacresa Smith

LaCresa Smith, age 54, a resident of Portland, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at her home following an extended illness.

LaCresa was born on October 21, 1965, in Union City, Indiana, the daughter of Charles and Freda (Manor) Hartman.  She graduated from Jay County High School in 1984 and received her LPN Certificate from Triton College.  She worked as an LPN for 30 years and was recently a D.S.P. for Jay-Randolph Developmental Services in Portland.  LaCresa was a founding member and leader of the local Girl Scout Troop.  She also served as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts Troop 3202.

LaCresa married Robert “Bob” Smith on March 24, 2001.

Her mother:  Freda Shull – Portland, Indiana

1 son:  John Robert Smith (Leona Veazie) – Portland, Indiana

1 daughter:  Bethany Smith (Shyla Renner) – Portland, Indiana

Adopted daughter:  Jaymi Godfrey – Daleville, Indiana

Adopted son:  Johnathan Jedinak – New Haven, Indiana

2 brothers:  Rick A. Traylor (wife Pat) – Geneva, Ohio

Todd Gabbard – Washington

1 sister:  Khadija “Julie” Asad – New Orleans, LA

Grandchildren:  Isaac Godrey-Smith and William Allen Hicks

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1-2 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland.  Services will follow at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Jerry Bell will officiate the service and burial will follow at Salamonia Cemetery in Salamonia, Indiana.
