Alan Smith

Alan Smith, age 94, a resident of Portland, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Albany Health and Rehabilitation Center in Albany.

Alan was born on June 11, 1931, in Jackson, Michigan, the son of Homer and Helen (McCoy) Smith. Alan graduated from Bryant High School, and served in the United States Navy. Alan worked for Portland Forge, and was a member of the American Legion Post 211. Alan married Joan Pensinger on May 16, 1954.

A daughter: Cynthia Smith-Hicks – Ogden Dunes, Indiana

A niece: Kathy Pensinger – Portland, Indiana

Visitation will be held on Friday August 22, 2025 from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. at Gravel Hill Cemetery in Bryant, Indiana.
