Allan E. Gainsford

Allan E. Gainsford, age 88, a resident of rural Portland in Greene Township, Jay County, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Millers Merry Manor in Dunkirk.
Allan was born on October 20, 1926, in Dunkirk, Indiana, the son of William and Mary (Driver) Gainsford. He graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1944 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for Warner Gear in Muncie for 31 years, retiring in 1979. He married Mary Miller on May 20, 2010.

8 step-grandchildren and 3 step-great grandchildren
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 12 – 1 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Pastor Steve Arnold will officiate the services and Portland American Legion Post 211 will be in charge of military rites.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed towards the Jay Randolph Developmental Center.
