Barbara Ann Wendel

Barbara Ann Wendel, age 63, a former resident of Portland, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at her home in Berne, Indiana. She was a member of the Collett Church of the Nazarene and a life member of the Women of the D.A.V. in Portland, Barbara worked for Jay Garment in Portland.

Barbara was born on June 11, 1952, in Richmond, Indiana, the daughter of Henry and Nellie (Ramsey) Veach. She was raised by Edwin E. and Christine (Cadwalter) Hanke. She married Michael Wendel on March 31, 1973

1 daughter: Alisa A. Blount (husband Ryan) – Portland, Indiana

1 brother: Donnie Veach - New Paris, Ohio

3 sister: Mary Jane Winters – Liberty, Indiana

Carolyn Ann Myer – Chesterton, Indiana

Edna Pearl Mann – New Paris, Ohio

1 step-sister: Laura Jane Floyd – Goodieville, Texas

13 Grandchildren 1 Great Grandchild and several nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Nellie Veach and Edwin and Christine Hanke and two brothers, Henry and Clay Veach.

Visitation will be held Thursday at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland from 4 – 8 p.m.

Services will be Friday at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland at 10 a.m. Pastor Billy Stanton and Pastor Wayne Stuery will officiate the service and burial will follow in Green Park Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to Family Life Care or The Lutheran Hospital Heart Transplant Unit. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
