Carl Hardymon, age 88, a resident of Portland, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023 in Portland.
Carl was born June 27, 1934, in Burtonville, Kentucky, the son of Roy and Helen (White) Hardymon. He married Nancy Bretz on November 8, 1952 and she passed away on March 7, 2021.
Carl drove truck for Haynes Milling in the 1950’s then went to AA Curry where he pulled a tanker. Carl then worked as a maintenance welder for Portland Forge. He then went back driving a truck transporting glass containers for Kerr Glass in Dunkirk and drove for Lill Leasing where he transported produce to Toronto, Canada.
Carl farmed in Jay County for many years and had rental houses in Jay County. He loved classic cars and pulling antique tractors.
Memberships include Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor Association, Life Member of NRA, Life member of North American Hunting Club and a member of Farm Bureau since 1958.

Visitation will be held Friday from 12-2 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. on Friday. Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery, west of Bryant.
