Claudia “Jean” Wentz, 67, of Pennville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Bluffton Regional Hospital in Bluffton, Indiana.

Jean was born on June 29, 1958, in Connersville, Indiana, to Harold and Gertrude Stang. She earned her G.E.D., was a devoted homemaker, and enjoyed attending church with her mother-in-law. On October 4, 1997, she married the love of her life, Carl Wentz, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and caring for those they loved.

Jean will be remembered for her kind heart, unwavering love for her family, and the joy she found in spending time with those she cherished most. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through the many lives she touched.

She is survived by her loving husband, Carl Wentz of Pennville; her children, Richard “Allen” Willett of Pendleton, James “Jimmy” Lee (Megan) of Westfield, Daniel Townsend of Portland, and Amanda Shrout of Pennville.

She is also survived by her twin brother, Claude Dean Stang ( wife Marsha) of Texas; her sisters, Janie Weber (Don) of New Mexico, Mary-Ann Girod (Allen) of Virginia, and Elizabeth Stang; her brothers, Tommy Wentz (Bev) of Muncie and Mike Wentz (Jeri) of Pennville; and her mother-in-law, Margaret Wentz-Wingard-Gray of Hartford City.

Jean was a proud grandmother to Destiny Willett, James Willett, Nichole Seeley, Kylie Stone (Jerry), Jasmine Barrow (Jarrod), Donnie Seeley, Jayma Lee, Talon Harvey, and Honestey Lee. She was also blessed with 11 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Gertrude Stang; her sisters, Elizabeth Stang and Melanie Stang; her brother, Glenn Stang; two grandchildren, Draven Willett and Miranda Willett; and her father-in-law, Donnie Wentz.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jean’s life during visitation on Wednesday, July 1, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jean’s love, compassion, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

Memorial may be directed toward the family in care of Carl Wentz.
