Coy “Snooks” Burks age 81 a resident of Redkey passed away Wednesday, November, 20, 2019 at his home.
He was retired from Ramsey Typewriter in Muncie and was an active member of the D.A.V. in Portland where he was past Treasure and past Vice Commander for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He spent his time fishing, attending flea markets and yard sales. He loved to play Bingo and poker.
Coy Burks was born January 17, 1938 in Glasco, Kentucky the son of Howard and Lola (Baltamore) Burks. He was married on June 17, 1961 to Linda Beth Harvey. She preceded him in death on November 18, 2017.
Survivors Include:
2 daughters- Sandy Howard (friend-Jesse Yaney) and Debbie Elmore(friend-Tony), Muncie, Indiana
2 Sons-Kenny Burks and Coy David Burks, Redkey, Indiana
2 Brothers- Leroy Burks, Grimsley, Tennessee and Robert Burks, Foley, Alabama
1 Sister- Carolyn Walker, Grimsley, Tennessee
6 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren
Visitation for Coy Burks will be held from 11am-2pm Monday in the Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery south of Redkey.
