Dan Crump

Daniel “Dan” Crump, age 88, a resident of rural Hartford City, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.

Dan was born November 26, 1937, in Bluffton, Indiana, the son of Joseph and Garnet (Elliott) Crump. He graduated from Hartford City High School in 1955. He served in the US Army from 1961-1963 and worked for 3M in Hartford City for 44 years. He was a member of Redkey Church of the Nazarene. Dan married Virginia Vore on September 2, 1958.

Dan loved life on his farm. He especially enjoyed spending time tinkering in the barn and tending to the farm, but one of his greatest joys was caring for his apple orchard. It was a special place for Dan and something he took great pride in.

Kevin Crump (wife Anne) – Indianapolis, Indiana

His siblings: Nolan Crump (wife Deb) – Hartford City, Indiana

Delilah Earhart – Hartford City, Indiana

7 grandchildren: Douglas Mayfied, William Mayfield, Daniel McFerrin, Nicolas Crump, Samuel Crump, Franklin Crump and Lewis Crump

2 great-grandchildren: Marshall McFerrin and Parker McFerrin

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Garnet Crump and a brother, Stephen Crump.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Military rites will follow at the funeral home. Private graveside services will be held at Hartford City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed towards Redkey Church of the Nazarene.
