David Axe

August 24, 1944 — April 8, 2018

David R. Axe, age 73, a resident of Melbourne, Florida, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at his home in Florida.  He was a former resident of Redkey.

David was born on August 24, 1944, in Jay County, Indiana, the son of John and Velma (Glentzer) Axe.  He graduated from Poling High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Airforce.  He was a life member of the D.A.V and a member of the Sebring American Legion in Florida.  He worked for Warner Gear in Muncie, retiring in 2002.  David married Leda Mock on May 5, 1968.

Surivors include:

His wife:  Leda Axe – Melbourne, Florida

2 daughters:  Melissa Axe – Melbourne, Florida

Carrie Younger (husband Damien) – Portland, Indiana

6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday 1 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.  Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie.

Memorials may be directed towards American Heart Association.
