David W. Gilbert, Sr.

David Wayne Gilbert Sr., Age 61, of New Weston, Ohio, passed away July 5, 2020 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana.

He was born on April 11, 1959, in Grahm, Kentucky, to Everett and Edith (Mabry) Gilbert. On September 30, 1978, he married his wife Dorothy Elaine (Wycuff) Gilbert who survives. He attended Jay County High School and he was formerly employed at Ladd Communications. He attended Wesleyan Holiness Church, Greenville, Ohio.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Elaine Gilbert, New Weston, Ohio, three children, David Gilbert Jr. (Krista Bane), Richmond, Indiana, Edith (Gilbert) Duke, New Weston, Ohio, and Dorothy (Gilbert) Roberts, Union City, Ohio. Three surviving brothers James Gilbert, Carl (Mary) Gilbert, Portland, Indiana, and Paul (Jackie) Gilbert, Avondale, Arizona. Two sisters Janet Seals, Portland, Indiana, and Erma Emery, Fort Recovery, Ohio. 9 grandchildren.

David was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers Robert, Johnny, Billy Joe, and Everett, Two sisters Lillian and Susan.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland.  Services to celebrate David’s life will follow at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Brother Rodney Robbins will officiate and burial will follow in Bluff Point Cemetery, south of Portland.

Memorials may be directed towards Wesleyan Holiness Church in Greenville, Ohio.
