Delbert Jesse James

Delbert Jesse James, age 87, a resident of Big Turkey Lake in Hudson, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Parkview LaGrange Hospital in LaGrange, Indiana.  He was a former Randolph County resident.

Delbert was born on October 27, 1929, in Randolph County, Indiana, the son of Walter and Blanche (Stephens) James.  He graduated in 1948 from Jefferson High School in Randolph County.  Delbert was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in Korea and retired from the Portland Teledyne Forge in Portland, Indiana.  He was a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Hudson, Indiana, Angola American Legion and the VFW in Union City, Ohio.  He married Barbara Hardman on February 15, 1963.

Survivors include:

His wife of 54 years:  Barbara James – Hudson, Indiana

1 daughter:  Terri Hall (husband Terry) – Union City, Ohio

1 son:  Darin James (Fiancé Kim Christlieb) – Angola, Indiana

1 sister:  Jenny Woodbury (husband Keith) – Winchester, Indiana

1 granddaughter and 3 great grandchildren

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 12 – 2 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home, 208 N. Commerce St., Portland, Indiana 47371.  Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Pastor Jim Elsner will officiate and burial will follow in the Hopewell Cemetery, north of Farmland.
