Donald W. Klingel, age 78, a resident of Rushville, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Rush Memorial Hospital in Rushville, Indiana. He was a former Madison Township resident.
Don was born on August 1, 1939, in Madison Township, the son of Herman “Cap” and Mildred (Messner) Klingel. He was a dairy farmer in Madison Township for several years and worked as a general contractor in Indianapolis. He owned and operated Don’s Chuckwagon for 14 years, traveling to many fairs and festivals in east central Indiana. He was a member of the Knightstown American Legion. Don married Peggy McCormick on March 6, 1975.

2 step-sons: James Harshman – Austin, Texas
Scott Harshman (wife Jenni) – Zionsville, Indiana
1 step-daughter: Debra Grider (husband Gary) – Hartford City, Indiana
1 brother: Charles Klingel (wife Glenna) – Muncie, Indiana
1 sister: Susan Klingel-Dowd (husband Michael) – Muncie, Indiana
10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren and 6 step-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed towards American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
