Emma Grile
October 28, 1919 — July 9, 2014
Emma Grile, age 94, a former Portland resident passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Maple Park Village in Westfield, Indiana. She and her husband owned and operated Grile Coal and Trucking for many years in the Portland area. They were also very active traveling in the ministry. She was a member of the Randolph Friends Church in Randolph County for many years before moving to Westfield, Indiana. In Westfield she was a member and Elder of the Union Friends Church.
She graduated in 1938 from Hartford High School outside Linn Grove in southern Adams County.
Emma Grile was born October 28, 1919 in Adams County, Indiana the daughter of Albert and Gertie (North) Zimmerman. She was married in 1938 to Ralph Grile and he passed away in 2005.
Survivors Include-
1 Son- Larry Grile (wife-Beverly), Westfield, Indiana
1 Sister- Martha Sommers, Berne, Indiana
3 Grandchildren, 5 Great Granddaughters, and 2 Great Great Granddaughters
Visitation will be held from 4-8pm on Monday in the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Tuesday at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Rev. Jonathan Edwards will officiate the services and burial will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery, west of Bryant.
