Emmett Walter, Jr.

Emmett Walter Jr. age 88 a resident of Muncie and a former Jay County resident passed away Friday, May 3, 2019 at the V.A. Hospital in Marion.  He retired from Teledyne Portland Forge and was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict.

Emmett Walter was born June 24, 1930 in Portland, Indiana the son of Emmett and Irene (Bye) Walter Sr.  He was married on December 31, 1967 to Georgia Walker.

Survivors include:

His beloved wife of 51 years- Georgia Walter, Muncie, Indiana

1 Daughter- Tricia Walter, Muncie, Indiana

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou Crosby

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1-2 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland.

Graveside services follow at Center Cemetery, west of Portland.  Pastor Coleman Smith will officiate and the Portland American Legion Post 211 will be in charge of military graveside rites.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed towards Marion VA Palliative Care Services.
