Evelyn Cronkhite

Evelyn M. Cronkhite, age 92, a resident of Albany, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Albany Health and Rehabilitation Center in Albany. She was a former Portland resident.

Evelyn was born September 9, 1931 in Ridgeville, Indiana the daughter of George Gerhart and Letha (Myers-Gerhart) Harshman. She graduated from Albany high school in 1950. Evelyn worked as a nursing aid for Country Manor in Dunkirk and Albany Health and Rehabilitation in Albany. She retired from Indiana Glass in 1994. Evelyn was a member of the AFLCIO Local 501 in Dunkirk.

Evelyn married Sydney Cronkhite on November 8, 1974 and he passed away on January 29, 1986.

Survivors Include:

2 sons: Claude E. Overla Jr. – East Ridge, Tennessee

Rodney Overla (companion Dennis) – Muncie, Indiana

daughter: Karen Vincent (husband Claude) – Albany, Indiana

7 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, 2 great great grandsons, 4 great great great grandchildren, 6 step great great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Susanne Dunmoyer, a son-in-law Randy Dunmoyer, and a daughter-in-law Wanda Overla

Private funeral services will be held Saturday at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home and burial will be held at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie.
