Helen Louise Boise

Helen Louise Boise, age 88, a former resident of Noble Township, Jay County, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Sage Bluff Rehabilitation Center in Fort Wayne.

Helen was born on October 24, 1926, in Van Wert, Ohio, the daughter of Phillip Alexander and Florence Agnes (Koos) Rash.  She was a member of the Noble Congregational Christian Church where she played piano for over 70 years.  She also served as a Sunday School Teacher and Deaconess of the church.   Other memberships include Noble Ladies Aide, Noble Busy Bee’s and the Indiana Extension Homemakers Association.  Helen worked at the Jay Garment in Portland, as a substitute cook for the Noble Elementary School and as a babysitter for several years.  She also served on the Noble Township Election Board.  Helen married Dorsey Lee Boise on March 28, 1948 and he passed away on April 10, 2009.

3 daughters:  Karen Paff (husband Fred) – Goshen, Indiana

Rose Ellen Jordan – Fort Wayne, Indiana

Mary Beth Gerdom (husband David) – Ft. Wayne, Indiana

3 sisters:  Leah Teeple – Bluffton, Indiana

Marie Whetzel – Dunkirk, Indiana

Laura Stephen – Ft. Wayne, Indiana

1 brother:  John Rash (wife Mildred) – Huntington, Indiana

2 grandchildren, BJ Gerdom and Spencer Gerdom – Ft. Wayne, Indiana

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorsey Lee Boise a son, Ronald Boise and a brother, Phillip Rash.

Visitation for Helen Boise will be held on Saturday from 3-7 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.  Pastor Jim Nichols will officiate and burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery in Ft. Recovery, Ohio.

Memorials may be directed towards the Noble Congregational Christian Church.
