Helen G. Hudson, age 90, a resident of Hartford City, passed away on Saturday, February 08, 2014, at Westminster Village in Muncie. She was a former Jay County resident.
Helen was born on August 26, 1923, in Delaware County, Indiana, the daughter of Clyde and Ilo (Hatzell) Champ. She worked as a service coordinator for the Sears store in Portland for 17 years and farmed with her husband in Jefferson Township, Jay County for many years. Helen was a member of the Blaine United Methodist Church in rural Portland. She enjoyed painting landscapes, camping at Wildwood Campground in Blackford County and was an avid bowler. She was a member of the Working Wonders Home Ec. Club and a 4-H Leader in Jay County for many years. Helen married Troy Hudson on October 20, 1940 and he passed away on January 31, 2011.

2 sons: Frank E. Hudson (wife Nancy) – Fort Wayne, Indiana
Brice D. Hudson (wife Donna) – rural Portland, Indiana
2 daughters: Andrea J. Dyer (husband Robert) – Yorktown, Indiana
Patricia S. Johnson (husband Ronald) – Hartford City, Indiana
13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren and 9 step-great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Pastor Hugh Kelly will officiate and burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery in Pennville.
Memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice.
