Helen M. Shawver, age 82, a resident of Pike Township in rural Jay County, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2014 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie after a yearlong battle with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Helen was born on July 2, 1932, in Portland, Indiana the daughter of Clarence and Geraldine (Stults) Jellison. She was a 1950 graduate of Portland High School. Memberships include Bluff Point Friends Church, Pike Friends and Neighbors Home Ec. Club, Jay County Historical Society and Jay County Public Library Friends of the Library. She married Merle Shawver on December 2, 1956 and he passed away on April 3, 1996.

Jeff Shawver (wife Alana) – rural Portland, Indiana
Peter M. Shawver – Farmland, Indiana
4 daughters: Diane M. Shawver – rural Portland, Indiana
Tamra J. Shawver – rural Portland, Indiana
Nancy Shawver – rural Portland, Indiana
Karen Shawver – rural Portland, Indiana
9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3 – 8 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Burial will follow in the Bluff Point Cemetery, south of Portland.
Memorials may be directed towards Jay County Hospital Cancer Center. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
