James C. Shauver, age 92, a former Madison Twp. Jay County resident passed away on Saturday. October 26, 2013 at Persimmon Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Portland. He was a former resident of Celina Ohio. He was a member of the Salamonia United Church of Christ and also attended Grace Missionary Church while residing in Celina Ohio. He graduated from Madison Twp High School in 1940. He retired from Westinghouse in Union City after more than 30 years. He was an Army veteran of WWII and was a member of the VFW post 2840 in Salamonia and the American Legion Post in Portland and Celina.
James Shauver was born Feb. 25, 1921, in Jay County, Indiana the son of James L. and Dortha (Bailey) Shauver. He was married in 1942 to Georganna Williams and she passed away in 1977. He then married Gladys Kuhn in 1979 and she passed away in 2005.

1 Son- Donald Shauver (wife-Anita), Salamonia, Indiana
1 Daughter- Sandra Johnson, Portland, Indiana
2 Step Sons- Terry Kuhn (wife-Vicki), Spencerville, Ohio
Ron Kuhn, Celina, Ohio
1 Step Daughter- Deb Rutschilling (husband- Tim), Celina, Ohio
8 Grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren
Visitation will be held from 3-7pm on Tuesday in the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Wednesday in the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Pastor Herb Hummel and Pastor Bruce Phillips will officiate the service and burial will follow in the Salamonia Cemetery. Portland American Legion Post 211 will conduct military graveside rites at the cemetery.
