Jean Manor

Jean Manor, age 82, a resident of rural Portland in Madison Township, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at her home.

Jean was born on September 17, 1935, in Madison Township, Jay County, the daughter of Marion and Dora “Cassie” (Mote) Whitacre.  She graduated from Madison Township High School in 1953.  Jean worked for Jay Garment in Portland for several years and was manager of Manor Monuments in Salamonia where she helped families with monument selection for many years.  She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Salamonia.  Jean married Robert T. Manor on February 6, 2002 and he passed away on September 26, 2008.

Survivors include:

1 step-son:  Robert Manor II (wife Deborah) – Salamonia, Indiana

2 step-daughters:  Nyoka “Nicki” Johnson (husband Larry) – Muncie, Indiana

Melanie (Manor) Alt – rural Portland, Indiana

1 sister:  Wavalene Evans (husband Roma) – Geneva, Indiana

12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren

Private graveside services will be held in Salamonia Cemetery.
