Jessalyn Valentine

Jessalyn Valentine, age 94, a resident of Portland, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur.
Jessalyn was born on January 4, 1920, in Auglaize County, Ohio, the daughter of Roy and Flossie (Kiser) Alexander. She worked for Jay Garment in Portland for over 25 years, Sheller Globe in Portland and Community Care West Nursing Home in Portland for 10 years. Jessalyn was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Portland. She married George Valentine on September 17, 1942 and he passed away on February 2, 1949.
Survivors include:
1 daughter: Janice Cooke (husband Donald, Sr.) – Portland, Indiana
1 brother: Joe Alexander – Monroeville, Indiana
3 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Christina Starr and a sister, Lois Cole.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 1 - 7 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Portland. Pastor Jason Rice will officiate and burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery in Portland.
Memorials may be directed towards the Mary Helen Strohl memorial fund through the Trinity United Methodist Church.
