John E. Towell

John E. Towell, age 62 passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017 at his home in Portland.  John was a 1972 graduate of Bryant High School.  He worked for Pepsico in Kansas City, Missouri and retired from Tyson Foods in Portland in 2016.  He retired after 22 years from the US Army where he served in Desert Storm.  He was a member of the Portland American Legion Post 211.

John Towell was born August 16, 1954 in Jay County the son of  Elvin and Nadine (Hoskins) Towell.

He was married in 2009 to Babs Kellogg.

1 Son- William Towell (wife-Ashley), Leavenworth, Kansas

2 Brothers- Harold Towell, (wife-Sandy), Portland, Indiana

Charles Towell, Geneva, Indiana

3 Sisters- Wanda Ballard(husband-Darrell), Parrish, Florida

Marilyn McCord (husband-Russell), Ft. Wayne, Indiana

Margaret Lane, Oceanside, California

1 Step Brother- Marvin Allen Towell Jr. (wife-Debbie), Portland, Indiana

His Father- Elvin Towell, Portland, Indiana

His Mother- Nadine Towell (husband-Marvin), Portland, Indiana

His beloved dog- Gizmo Marie

3 Grandchildren

Visitation will be held from 4-7pm on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 in the Williamson and Spencer Funeral home in Portland.

Funeral services will be held at 11am Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home.  Pastor Jeff Horsman will officiate the services and burial will follow in the Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana.
