Jonah "Joe" Tankersley

Jonah “Joe” Edward Tankersley, age 61, a resident of Pennville, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 in Indianapolis.

Joe was born on December 31, 1956, in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, the son of Sonny and Betty (Hartsock) Tankersley.  He graduated from Pennville High School and worked as a maintenance mechanic for several years and the Pennville Post Office.  He married Annie McVey on November 28, 1993.  He was a loving husband, father, son and grandfather.  Joe was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana University Basketball.

Survivors include:

His wife:  Annie Tankersley – Pennville, Indiana

His father:  Sonny Tankersley – Pennville, Indiana

1 daughter:  Angie Marshall (husband Andy) – Middlebury, Indiana

2 sons:  Josh Tankersley (wife Alicia) – Berne, Indiana

Daniel Zimmerman – Bakersfield, California

6 grandchildren:  Logan, Clayton, Madisyn, Lillian, Kelsey and Josslin

He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Tankersley and a sister, Tina M. Utt.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. at the Pennville Chapel of Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Pennville Chapel of Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home.  Pastor Stephen Conner will officiate and burial will follow in the IOOF Twin Hill Cemetery in Pennville.

Memorials may be directed towards the Scleroderma Foundation.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
