Josephine Smith

Josephine Smith, age 64 a resident of Portland passed away Friday, May 14, 2021 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.  She was a 1987 graduate of Jay County High School, and retired from food service at Judge Haynes Elementary after many years in Portland.  She was a member of the Victory in Life Assembly of God Church in Portland.

Josephine Smith was born October 26, 1956 in Twin Falls, Idaho the daughter of Isabel and Maria (Reyes) Castillo.  She was married to Sam Smith Jr on June 14, 1975.

Survivors Include:

Her beloved husband- Sam Smith Jr., Portland

2 Daughters- Betty Sears (husband-Robert), Portland, Indiana and Tashina Melton (husband-Zach), Orlando, Florida

2 Sons- Lucas Smith, Bloomington, Indiana, and Zeb Smith, Portland, Indiana

4 Sisters- Janie Meehan, Portland, Frances Watson (husband-Bill), Portland, Christina Byers (husband-Bob), and Ramona Reyna, Sebring, Florida

2 Brothers- Benny Castillo, Portland, and Isabel Castillo Jr. (wife-Jane), Portland

3 Grandchildren- Sadie, Nathan and Jasper

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, May 17, 2021 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at the Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland.  Funeral services will follow at 7:00pm with Pastor Gil Alicia officiating.
